This Murphy Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize the Scholarship Foundation’s 2020 recipients:

?Hailey Baldwin will graduate from Plano East Senior High School. She will attend Brigham Young University and major in Business Marketing. Her favorite Murphy memory is having a Ninja Turtle painted on her face each of her high school years…even if homecoming was later that night.

?Sydney Cain will graduate from Wylie High School. She will attend Collin College in the fall and plans to transfer to University of North Texas to major in Psychology. Her favorite Murphy memory is going to Maize Days with her family. Her mom was a vendor at the event and the family enjoyed helping at her booth. She also liked the music and watching fireworks with her family.

?Kayla Calderon will graduate from Plano East Senior High. She will attend University of Notre Dame in the fall and major in Biology following a genetics and pre-med pathway. Her favorite Murphy memory is attending Maize Days with her family. They would play all day and stay for the fireworks. When she got older, she volunteered at Maize Days with her friends. She adds when September rolls around, she will really miss this tradition.

?Michael Malone will graduate from Plano East Senior High. He will attend University of North Texas where he will major in Sports Management. His favorite Murphy memory is winning the city championship for basketball in 8th grade and winning back-to-back, undefeated city championships in football in 7th and 8th grade.

?Veronica McDermott will graduate from Wylie High School. She will attend University of Texas at Tyler and will pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Her favorite Murphy memory is listening to the Murphy Sounds at Sundown concerts in the summer. Each year her family looks forward to walking down to the amphitheater, setting up blankets and chairs, and enjoying great music and the beautiful Texas weather.

?Katie Williams will graduate from Wylie High School. She will attend University of North Texas and major in anthropology. Her favorite Murphy memory is when Santa would come through her neighborhood on the Murphy Fire Department fire truck. She loved going outside with her family and kids on her street to see such an exciting celebrity riding on top of the engine.

Music by: Dr. Elvis & Dr. Robinson “Imagine” from their COVID 19 song release fundraiser
