Murphy Chamber of Commerce Launches Inaugural Great Donut Hunt
Murphy, TX — January 7, 2026 The Murphy Chamber of Commerce invites families across the community to kick off 2026 with a sweet new tradition: The Great Donut Hunt, a self-guided tasting adventure to crown Murphy’s Best Chocolate Sprinkle Donut. The event takes place on Monday, January 19, a school holiday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and is designed to celebrate local flavor, family fun, and community connection.
Participants will visit up to five local donut shops, purchase a chocolate frosted sprinkle donut, and rate each one using a QR code provided at each donut shop location. Every submission enters families into a raffle to win gift cards from participating shops, with winners announced on Tuesday, January 20 and recognized at the Chamber’s January 22 Business Card Exchange and social media pages.
“This is about more than donuts—it’s about joy, togetherness, and supporting the small businesses that make Murphy feel like home,” said Ty Lake, Executive Director of the Murphy Chamber of Commerce. “We wanted to create something playful and memorable that families can look forward to year after year. The Great Donut Hunt is our way of celebrating community spirit on a day that honors unity and service.”

The donut shop with the highest rating will be awarded the title of “Murphy’s Best Chocolate Sprinkle Donut 2026”, featured in Chamber promotions and celebrated across social media.
